Thank you very much for the direction. I have another problem posted here and I just may go to the JetPack forum to see if anyone can help there.
Someone who knows my email address contacted me directly rather than through here. Why? He didn't want to embarrass me.
The problem was that all the messages were sent to spam. I retrieved them and now all is well. I marked them "not spam" and, most importantly, added wordpress@mysite.com to my contacts list.
Another problem he pointed out was that too many people don't check their profile info. I did although others may not. Do so.
I'm not embarrassed I'm grateful and do hope this will help others.
